Kartik Purnima
Kartik Purnima is one of the most auspicious and sacred
occasions celebrated in Varanasi.
Observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik,
the festival holds deep spiritual significance for devotees.
On Kartik Purnima, pilgrims from across the country gather along the
ghats of the River Ganga to take a holy dip,
believing it to cleanse sins and bring spiritual merit.
The ghats are filled with prayers, rituals, and devotional chants
from early morning till night.
Devotees light thousands of earthen lamps (diyas) on the
ghats and float them on the sacred river,
creating a mesmerizing sight of glowing lights reflected on the water.
Kartik Purnima also marks the celebration of
Dev Deepawali in Varanasi,
when the city’s riverfront is illuminated to welcome the divine beings.
Cultural programs and grand Ganga Aarti add to the festive atmosphere.
Kartik Purnima in Varanasi is a profound spiritual experience,
symbolizing purity, devotion, and divine grace,
and attracting pilgrims, saints, and travelers from around the world.
